The Artist

Growing up in the Russian Far East and now living in Marin County, California, Svetlana has spent most of her life on the two far opposite edges of the Pacific. The ocean has always been a source of mystery and possibility, which she incorporates in her life and art.   Before becoming a full time artist, Svetlana found creative expression in making jewelry, felting and interior design.

Inspired by her time living in Vladivostok, Moscow, Rome, The Sea Ranch and Mill Valley, her art reflects both the nature she adores and surprising man-made creations.  "Painting has allowed me to consider the beauty in the simple, not obvious, things. The beauty of a flower or landscape is  no more stunning than a clothesline drying towels in a barren courtyard.  Translating a scene to canvas opens its beauty to me and allows me find deep appreciation of its color, light, texture and form. And my art is a way for me to create memories.  Memories not just for myself, but memories of a place in time that captures a moment that will never come again."
